They offer a variety of things - steaming from your computer to your television, streaming internet radio, photo slideshows, ability to access you music content... and many, many more concepts. The cost can range from several hundred of dollars... to the price of the Nyrius dock. Why do I like the Nyrius dock? It offers a simple way to watch/listen your iTunes/iPod media through your televison. The process is easy - you connect the three RCA cables from the back of the Nyrius into your TV and the set-up is complete. There is no network to configure or software to update. Another nice feature is that it is portable (roughly the size of two decks of cards) so it is easy to stick in your backpack or overnight bag making it (nearly) ideal for travel. We like to listen to her iPod, connected to her stereo, usually on shuffle. Usually this means getting up every so often to skip to the next song, so I thought this dock would be perfect - see the controls on the TV and use a remote to skip ahead. Movies are all video files like avi, mpg, mp4 etc.... I opened the box, hooked up the device to TV, it was very easy but I didnt power yet. Then I downloaded AirVideo on my ipod, so that ipod can access all the video and movie content stored in my pc and networked devices via wifi. This was very easy too, took me less than a few minutes to see all the remote video folders on my ipod screen. After setting up AirVideo on my ipod, I placed it on the dock, hit the 'ON' button on the remote, I set the TV to A/V channel, there it is. I see the menu on the screen but at this point, I can not navigate and access to my remote folders because this menu only lets you play video... Read more |
